Our Leather Cords: The Newest Addition
The most pared down designs often present the biggest challenges. It took the LM team months of R&D to create our new deceptively simple Thick Leather Cord.
We had samples of the leather in our workshop for several years. Occasionally Jennifer would take them out, wrapping them around her wrist or neck to get a feel for wearability, sketching clasp and closure mechanisms, and playing with design. These early concepts tended to feel bulky or fussy.
When she landed on the necklace having a ring as a landing spot for pendants, she brought the concept to the team and Chad set to work to making prototypes in our Iowa workshop. The aim was to create an clasp that was sleek, secure and easy to wear. The result is an integrated box clasp with a small hidden push button on one side of the necklace.
We love this leather cord because it’s a little bit rugged and a little bit polished. The thick stitched Nappa lamb leather comes in three colors, a buttery Light Brown, darker brown Chestnut, and rich wine Marsala. The opening bails on our pendants clip to the ring in the middle of the hardware, layering perfectly with your other necklaces and adding a touch of texture to your necklace stack.
